So my last journal was on a bit of a downer and I’m in a cheerful mood right now so I’ve decided to replace it, although to tell you the truth this one's a bit sad as well.

When we moved we inherited a pond from the previous owner with over 40 fish in it and we added 6 fish to it ourselves. Overall we counted 47 fish at the most. (And 9 frogs and a newt but that’s a different matter) but then disaster struck when they started dying, it started with one then we got groups of 3 or 4 per day. We panicked and had no idea what to do. After taking them to a fish helper we found out that our pond had been infested with a parasite known as flukes, they're millions of year’s old and nasty little cretins who cling to a fish and it means that the fish suffocate to death.

These little flukes lost us 30 fish overall but today we discovered something wonderful, our black fish has had 4 little babies, they're so tiny and cute and I doubt that's all of them so our pond is refilling even without our intervention. I’m happy because we were told we shouldn't put any more in until spring. I’ve called them the guppies because they're tiny and I can't tell the difference between them. Calling them fries just sounds weird.
